This is how my evaluation is going to work.

So it’s pretty simple but I’m going to just say before i actually upload it. I’m just going to have a heading saying evaluation section it is, and then a link to the word document, which will in turn have links in it to other things like websites and youtube and audio. So it will just look like this really:

Evaluation One:

linky link link linky. click.

Evaluation Two:

clicky clicky click. link

I’m doing it like this because it’s easier than having a ton of different posts which are all essentially for the same thing. (:

Evaluation 3

This section of the evaluation is all about audience feedback, once again i am going to be answering the bulk of the question by writing in word but within it I will have some screen shots of a survey i have created in order to get feedback and the audio presentation thing, I dont really know what to call it…, that I have just made. Once I have finished this section of the evaluation I will be entirely finished and will then upload the four different sections to my blog. (: yay

UPDATE: DEADLINE TODAY

eeeeek. panic over (: will be finished in time for the deadline.

I solved the problem of the pc not reading my ipod audio files by just using a different pc….simple as.

Also I have  literally just finished creating my audio feedback and directors commentary and will be uploading them to youtube shortly in order to insert them into my written evaluation (:

Audio

I used my ipod to do some voice recordings for two of my evaluations, one was some audience feedback and the other was for a directors commentary i was going to make. Unfortunately upon getting to school the computeres can’t read the file that the audio is so i can’t use the audio at all.

This means i have had to scrap these two ideas because i simply dont have enough time to get some voice recordings done by the end of the day. :( The reason i used my ipod instead of a camera was because a few of the days i couldnt get into art to get a camera and have been pretty busy this week with other parts of the evaluation and stuff outside school.

So i will have to do some improvisation, perhaps use screen shots of each shot i used and put text along side them, but i will figure it out somehow. (:

Evaluation 2

In this section of the evaluation I am exploring the use of the three different texts and their various functions. Again I have written some of it up in word but I have also used a powerpoint presentation when discussing my own work. Willl say when its finiiiiished.

Evaluation 4

The next section I decided to tackle was question four, once again I have written up my answer in word but in this question I have used images from my blog to illustrate the things that I talked about and a link to some audio. Question four is almost complete i jsut need to insert the audio.

Evalutation 1

Just a post to say what I’ actually doing at the moment. I have decided that I am going to individually do an answer for each of the four sections of the evaluation and then mush them all together once they’re finished; so far this is working well for me (: I’ doing this in word but within word I’m going to have links to various other types of media in order to give me a wide variety for my evaluation. For example in part one of my evaluation I have a link to a website with a vide which i used to to help myself learn about trailer conventions, a link to myself speaking about the different shots I have used in my trailer and a link to an actual trailer that I have looked at along my own to see similar/different feautres.

Part one is almost finished except for the video im making.

Evaluation

I thought i would jsut write in here the four points of evaluation that we need to make sure we do, just so i know and so I can see it easily (:

1. In what ways does your media product use, develop or challenge forms and conventions of real media products?

-          Discuss your research into trailers and their conventions. Identify (and link to) specific trailers that influenced your own work.   Emphasise what you have found out rather than how you conducted your research.

-          Discuss your research into the ‘theory of trailers

-          Discuss how/why your film relates to the conventions that you have identified. Try to identify areas where you have followed conventions and areas where you have challenged them.  Don’t ignore conventions just because you think they are obvious. Where you have departed radically from conventions, try to give some sense of the reasons behind your choices.

2. How effective is the combination of your main product and ancillary texts?

-          try to set out how you hoped the texts would work alongside each other and how they would relate to each other in the overall timetable for marketing your film. How will the 3 pieces combine to address the target audience? At what stage in the film’s marketing will the three texts (trailer, poster, magazine cover) be used and do the three texts therefore perform different functions in the overall marketing of the film?

-          Remember that ‘effectiveness’ is really measured here by about how effective the texts are in reaching and addressing the target audience. To measure this, you need to refer to audience feedback that you have

conducted.

3. What have you learned from your audience feedback?

- This speaks for itself. However, I should emphasise that the lessons you learn cannot simply about how many people liked it/really liked it/loved it etc. You need to identify what your audience seemed to be looking for in a trailer/poster and how you were able to develop your ideas in resp

onse to audience feedback etc. Try to be as specific as possible. Teacher feedback should be one element of this but you should not focus on this at the expense of more general feedback.

4. How did you use media technologies in the construction and research, planning and evaluation stages?

-          discuss the way you used your blog to organize your research and planning work and how you used it to showcase your production

- discuss your use of the internet to research into trailers and their conventions. How did you search? Did you leave any questions on message boards? Did you create polls? Did you use your own social networking sites (ie Facebook) to generate any initial research data?

-          discuss how you generated responses to your work through polls and the ‘comments’ section of

-          how did you make use of photography in planning your trailer

-          how did your camera/editing skills develop as your trailer progressed? What specific skills did you need to master?

-          How did you use photography, Photoshop, Publisher etc to create your posters and magazine covers. Which specific skills did you need to master?

-          How did you use video/sound recording to get audience feedback?

-          How did you use Powerpoint to help evaluate and present your work?

Evaluation: Idea 1

As a part of my evaluation I am going to create a short clip using premier elements that will feature my trailer with a voice over of me explaining each shot, what it features, the camera angle, the reason i used it and what effect I wanted it to create. Im going to do a rough verision of what I’m going to say about each shot on here just to give me something to read from but I’m sure it will change as I’m actually saying it anyways.

Shot one - The first shot in my trailer is a medium shot of a phone ringing and alongside the phone is various bit of change, a pen and a piece of paper with the word tuesday 1:30 written on it. I wanted this shot to hint to the audience that this person is supposed to be out meeting someone, but for it also to be slightly strange that they have left something such as keys behind.

Shot two - The following shot is a close up of the phone, still ringing which reveals the caller ID featuring a smiling girl. This shot is used to introduce the character ‘Abby’ and illustrates that this is who the person ought to be meeting

Shot three - The next shot shown is a medium shot of a girl stood outside, fiddling with a phone in her hand and opening it as though checking the time. She is looking around her, an indication that she is waiting for someone and they haven’t turned up.

Shot four - This is shot is one which I believe works particularly well. It is a close up of the girl in which the camera is circling around her and she twists and turns to keep up with it creating the impression that she feels as though she is being watched or that someone is just behind her. I used this shot because i wanted to create a tense atmospher, to get across the idea that this girl is in danger and someone is watching her. The use of the ghosting effect i applied makes the image seem shakey and makes the situation seem even more unstable

Shot five - This shot sees the arrival of an entirely new location. The girl featured in the previous shots is sat on the floor her knees pulled up against her and a bright light shining on her. It is a long shot of the girl, but in the mid distance of the shot is a figure slightly in shadow with a tie in their hand. This shot is stationary but i used it to give the impression that this girl is helpless and this shadowed figure is uknown and dangerous to her

Shot six - At this point the length of the shots in my trailer become much shorter to add more pace to it. The first of these shorter shots is a medium shot of the girl sat against a wall with a worried expression on her face. The camera shakes slightly which gives the impression of unease. Her eyes flicker upwards as this happens, suggesting to the audience that someone has entered the room but not showing them who it is.

Shot seven - The following shot is a close up of the girls eyes, her point of focus changes from left to the centre of the camera as though she is staring straight at someone. The desired effect of having her look directly into the camera was to more clearly see the girls emotions. One of the deeper notes of the piano is struck just as she looks forward, giving the shot even more effect.

Shot eight - Contuing with the use of close ups the next shot features the girls hands which have been bound together and she is struggling to get free. Although the audience hasn’t seen the girl being tied up it suggests to them that her keeper has become more serious about stopping her from escaping. Not knowing why or when the girl became tied adds to the intrigue.

Shot nine - The pimultimate shot is a medium shot showing the girl tied and gagged, she is leaning forwards as though she was struggling and then bangs back against the wall, rising her head up which creates a feeling of desperation. This shot lasts longer than the previous three and fades out to black which gives it more effect and leaves it lasting in the audiences mind.

At this point the name of the film fades in in a harsh, almost spikey font. The colour of the font is white which suggests bleakness. This stays on screen for a few seconds and then fades out and is replaced with the words coming soon.

Shot Ten - This is the final shot of the trailer which fades in just as coming soon begins to disapear. It is in semi darkness and the girl leans forwards as though sitting up, a shadow passes across her and you are momentarily unable to see her, then as she comes back into view she is staring directly into the camera. The reason i used this shot is that because she stares directly into the camera the image of her eyes sticks with the person watching. I chose to insert this shot at the very end after the name and release time simply to leave an image for the audience to remember, rather than a less memorable release date.
